About this session:
As an ancient artform, Chinese calligraphy is intractably linked with Chinese painting and poetry for over two thousand years. It is valued as an art form in both graphic gestural and poetic terms. An appreciation of the gesture and forms of Chinese calligraphy also supports the study of Chinese language. Known as shūfǎ 书法 (“the way of writing”), this ancient art uses brush and ink to render Chinese writing with beauty and meaning. Enter a calm, creative world as we show you how to use brush and ink to write basic Chinese characters.
